Our Travel Season 2025 Begins with a Chaotic Flight to Thailand!

We made it to Thailand! Join us, Trisha & Nikhil, on our chaotic and funny journey from Delhi Airport to our new home in Krabi. From surprise baggage questions to a tense immigration encounter and our first impressions of our Thai apartment, here’s how our adventure began!

Hello from Krabi! We Finally Made It!

Hey everyone, Trisha & Nikhil here! We are SO excited to be writing this from our new apartment in Krabi, Thailand! It feels absolutely surreal. The last 24 hours have been a total whirlwind of emotions, excitement, a little bit of stress, and a whole lot of laughter. We’ve gone from navigating the familiar chaos of Delhi Airport to landing in the tropical paradise of Krabi, and what a ride it’s been. We've already got stories to tell, and we can't wait to share every single detail with you. Let’s dive in!

Why Krabi? Our First Impressions

For us, this isn't just a vacation; it's a new chapter! We chose Krabi for its stunning landscapes, incredible food, and the promise of adventure. After months of planning, we packed our lives into a few suitcases (well, carry-ons, more on that later!) and booked a one-way ticket.

Our first impression upon landing at Krabi Airport? The warm, humid air felt like a giant hug! It was instantly relaxing. Even though we were tired, the sight of palm trees and the friendly smiles of the local Thai people immediately lifted our spirits. It felt like we were exactly where we were supposed to be.

Our (Slightly Bumpy) Journey from Delhi to Krabi

Our trip started at Delhi's T3 Airport. We were buzzing with excitement, but of course, travel is never without its little dramas!

At the check-in counter, the first surprise hit us. The staff asked about our check-in bags, and I (Trisha) just stared back blankly. We were so proud of fitting everything into our carry-ons!

Budget & Money-Saving Tips

We're all about smart travel, so here’s a quick look at our initial costs:

  • Airport Transfer: We found a shared mini-van shuttle right outside Krabi Airport. It cost us 200 Baht (about ₹450) per person to get to our hotel in the Ao Nang area, which was a pretty good deal!

  • Carry-On Only: This was our biggest money-saver! By avoiding check-in luggage, we saved on airline fees and didn't have to wait at the baggage carousel.

  • Lounge Access: Using credit card perks for lounge access is a game-changer. Free food and a comfy place to relax before a flight? Yes, please!

Pro Tip: Many premium credit cards offer complimentary Lounge Access and Priority Pass membership - check yours to make sure you have enough Lounge Access for your Trip. We have been using the following Credit Cards and would highly recommend the same.

Challenges & Funny Moments

The biggest challenge was definitely the immigration scare! But looking back, it's already a funny story to tell.

The most hilarious moment? When we landed, I (Trisha) turned to Nikhil and playfully asked, "Do you even know where we are?" His confident "Yes!" was all I needed to hear.

Oh, and our apartment's AC wasn't working properly when we first arrived! Nothing like a little technical glitch to welcome you to a new country, right? Thankfully, it was an easy fix.

Local Food & Cultural Experiences

We haven't explored the local food scene much yet, but our first meal in Thailand was... KFC!

Don't judge us! We were exhausted and starving after a long day of travel. It was quick, easy, and exactly what we needed.

We're so excited to try all the amazing Thai food out there Pad Thai, Green Curry, Mango Sticky Rice... you name it! We promise our next food update will be much more authentic.

Practical Travel Tips for Thailand

Based on our first 24 hours, here are a few quick tips:

  • Best Time to Visit: We've arrived at the beginning of the tourist season, and the weather is a mix of sunshine and short bursts of rain. It seems like a great time to be here before the major crowds arrive.

  • Transportation: The shared mini-vans from the airport are efficient and affordable. We highly recommend them.

  • Packing: Pack light! Traveling with just a carry-on makes navigating airports so much easier. Plus, you’ll want to save space for all the shopping you’ll do here.

Cheers, Trisha & Nikhil

Then came immigration. I was a bundle of nerves, but I got through smoothly. Nikhil, on the other hand? Not so much! The immigration officer gave him the third degree about not having a return ticket, even though it’s not a requirement for entering Thailand from India. It was a stressful 10 minutes, but thankfully, everything worked out in the end. Phew!

With the stressful part over, we headed straight to the lounge to celebrate with some food and drinks. Nikhil’s happy-face with his burger was priceless!

Our AirAsia flight was surprisingly comfortable for a budget airline. We had screens, decent legroom, and even a footrest! It made the journey so much better, and we landed in Krabi feeling refreshed and ready for our new life.
